Great Christmas Music Addition December 22, 2008 F. Nava (Texas USA) I knew that the Everly Brothers released a Christmas album, but I have to admit that I never knew it was readily available on CD. Once I realized it was out, and at such a great price, I had to get it! The only thing about this album is don't expect to hear the boys chiming away on their acoustic guitars and para-diddle drumbeats. It only features the boys backed by a church organ and choir. Unfortunately, two of the songs don't even feature the brothers at all. (That is why this got knocked down from a 5 star to 4). (My mentioning this is not to criticize the album itself, but to let you, the buyer, know what to expect). But all in all, this is a great addition to your collection (whether it be an Everly Brothers collection, Christmas collection, or even rock and roll collection).
Everly Christmas CD December 20, 2008 J. A. R. Ncp (Cumming, GA USA) I purchased this CD based on other's review. It was less than what I was hoping for. The clear vocal sounds of the Everly Brothers just wasn't there as with their other CD. Not a bad CD but less than the sounds I was hoping for.
A Christmas to be remembered! January 2, 2007 R. H. P. Breemes (Rijssen, The Netherlands) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This cd is of course a new pressing of a very old recording of the Everly Brothers with The Boys Town Choir. The recording was for that time very good, but the sound of this cd is not as you may expect from its first budget cd release from 2005. Still it's The Everly Brothers with the wonderfull Boys Town Choir. A true collector's item for the fans of the Everly Brothers and of Boys Town and it's choir. It's a unique combination. They sing the Chrismas songs as they should be sung. Far better than the commercial Christmas songs from this time! It is a Christmas to be remembered! A pity that the playing time is only 26 minutes! Rolf Breemes, a Boys Town fan from The Netherlands
Xmas with the Everly's September 22, 2005 Chris Owens (NJ United States) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Well, I found this album on record last Xmas - I love the Everly Brothers, and if you're like me, you'll want them singing Xmas songs to you when that time of year comes around. As far as albums go, well, it was probably cut in a few hours - no need to critique it, as far as Xmas albums go in general, this is pretty good fare - not a whole lot of energy in it, and in a way, it's pretty strange to hear their voices singing Xmas songs with a choir behind them - but that alone is worth the price of admission. Probably only for the true fan, or those who want some good quality Xmas music.
Classic Everly-Classic Christmas June 18, 2005 bobby the c (minneapolis,mn) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I became interested in this album back in the 80's when I saw the Everlys reunion concert in Minneapolis. In the souvenir book they had a picture of all there Warner Albums and to my surprise a Christmas album. After looking for it for about 15 years in every antique store and record shop around I finally found it online. Now to my amusement its a budget cd. When I first heard this album I was surprised, no chugging Gibson guitars, no country or rock and roll. This album is the closest thing to Gospel with choir and Church organ, that Phil and Don have done. With this album being out of print so long I would recommend it to any one who is sick of the modern secular and christian pop Christmas Albums. Phil and Dons version of silent night alone is worth more then the price of the cd. My only gripe is that I had hoped this would come out with some unreleased songs or takes if they exsist.
