A great CD to introduce your kids to opera! December 16, 2007 Val (Boston, MA) I'm not a big fan of opera and-needless to say-none of my kids are. But since I found this CD easy to understand and like, I figured I could stick it under my daughters' noses and maybe have them like it too. One evening I casually mixed it with other Christmas carol CDs and it worked! They liked it! Now, this is just the start for me and for them!
Great album February 8, 2007 Becky (Nevada USA) For a different flavor on your christmas favorites - i highly recommend this album...
Probably the best Christmas Album Out there December 16, 2006 isis (Kensington, CT, USA) to me it's funny. not intentionally, which makes it funnier. i got it for my mom for christmas back in the days of the cassette tape. i had no clue what i was getting, i knew it was the 3 tenors she loved and thought the idea of them singing christmas songs was great. i had no clue it was going to be so funny! Carracas trying to sing "Jingle Bells" and making it operatic was hysterical to us and has become a long lasting joke in my family all these years later. Silent Night is wonderfully done, and as well as a few others. this is a great alternative from the Rat Pack (Sinatra, Davis, Martin) Christmas music that is played to death by the retailers. I'm getting it on CD this year!
'a must have' Great Christmas Music, heavy on the Carreras December 10, 2003 jebaer (Oklahoma City, OK USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I hate that phrase 'must have' but this applies for fans of the 3 tenors or anyone who's tired of the same old Christmas music. Includes the typical stuff like Jingle Bells (listen for Carreras' phrasing 'one horse op-en sleigh') and I'll Be Home for Christmas (Domingo). Also fun (or painful, depending your viewpoint) is Carreras' 'Joy to the World' and phrasing 'Let heaven and nat-ure sing'(this is an early version obviously). But songs like Navidad (Carreras), La Virgin Lava Panales (Domingo)and Mille Cherubini (Carreras again) are beautiful and have not been covered to death like most Christmas songs. Silent Night in 3 languages is pretty awesome too. What made this CD for me was Carreras' 'Guten Abend, Gut Nacht' a lullaby. It lulled my dog to sleep. And he's a Pavarotti fan.
