| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Bing Crosby is the father of the Christmas album. He sired the whole shooting match in 1942 when he recorded Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" for the Decca soundtrack of Holiday Inn, and the season has never been the same since. "White Christmas" isn't just Crosby's signature tune, it's also that of Christmas, selling millions around the world and inspiring countless recording artists to create their own holiday versions every year. This long overdue two-disc package features the original recording of "White Christmas" (often replaced by a later version on reissues) as well as all the seasonal songs Crosby cut over three decades. And with extensive liner notes and guest artists such as the Andrews Sisters, The Complete Decca Christmas Songbook is a slam-dunk gift buy for the whole family. --Martin Keller

Definitive Decca Christmas Collection on Bing December 21, 2008 Bill Anthony (North Texas United States) Best sound quality yet on these vintage recordings, and very complete. My only quibble is that "Count Your Blessings" isn't here; it's not technically a Christmas song, but it's from the film WHITE CHRISTMAS and became a standard which is now on many other artists Christmas albums. "Let's Start The New Year Right" is included here, and it's not a Christmas song either .... Buy this set, and Bing Crosby's Christmas Classics (2006 edition on Capitol), and download "Count Your Blessings" from itunes etc.
Poor sound quality December 2, 2008 Arthur J. Tourot 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was so happy to get this well before Christmas...yet when I played it I could hear alot of background noise and pops and clicks like from an old record. ?????? Waste of money.
Best Bing Ever September 18, 2008 Delaney (WI) This really is the best Bing Crosby Cd I own. I own about 7 of them. There is something on here for everyone. My husband who hates Christmas music has a fave on each disc, which is something since he really does detest Christmas music.
Bing Crosby reminds me of childhood Christmases! May 21, 2008 Mary Ellen Werner (Risingsun, Ohio United States) This is the ultimate for a Bing Crosby fan like me! My memory of childhood Christmases includes lots of the old carols, many of them by Bing, and of course, his best and my favorite, "White Christmas." This has everything on it, including my all-time favorite version of "Jingle Bells," the one he does with the Andrews Sisters! I also love the duet with his son Gary "That Christmas Feeling." I also love "Adeste Fidelis," "Silent Night," "Happy Holiday," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," virtually all of them! There is a funny outtake on it, a version of "Jingle Bells" that didn't make it past the recording booth. For Bing fans or for old-fashioned Christmas fans, this is a perfect choice! I bought it the first year it came and (10 years ago) and it is still the same price!
Very good digital re-mastering January 7, 2008 Timothy P. Brown (Cincinnati Ohio USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bing Crosby songs on this double CD were digitally re-mastered and overall it is excellent. His earliest songs are on here - rare finds from the 1930s and 1940s are real treats. Apparently taken from sources so old that digital remastering was difficult to restore them to their original sound. The fact they are included is nice. Songs from the early 1960s are excellent in their reproduction. Song selection is outstanding - multiple versions of his standards are included. Liner notes, especially how and why recordings were made, re-recorded and released - are excellent. This double disc is a must for anyone who treasures Bing Crosby Christmas songs.
