| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Even though it includes some of the same songs, this isn't the Time-Life Christmas collection advertised annually on TV. It's actually a budget version of that anthology, and not a bad deal at all. Some may argue it's missing the two Elvis Presley tracks found on the three-CD TV version. Others will contend that any self-respecting Christmas music aficionado probably already owns (or should own) Elvis's wonderful '57 Christmas Album. What's attractive about this one is it gathers a lot of classic singular performances in one place--a tad too much Bing Crosby, perhaps, but also the original hit versions of "Jingle Bell Rock," Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby," Burl Ives's "Holly Jolly Christmas," and the Drifters' "White Christmas" (the blueprint for Elvis's version). This is a terrific cross section of seasonal sounds. --Bill Holdship

Bringing back wonderful memories November 23, 2008 Jillonne Kaufman (Gulfport, FL USA) I have owned this previously through Time Life (some of you know what can happen when you are moving) and so I wanted to purchase it again and did when I found it here on Amazon. These are priceless original Christmas songs by the original artists and the sounds are simply superb! This is a must have for those who want to remember old traditions and for those who want to make new ones.
An outstanding Compilation of Seasonal Songs! November 10, 2008 Archie Mercer (Yorba Linda, CA) I have to say I'm kind of addicted to Christmas music, usually beginning to play it each year in August. I always make it a point to try and add 2-3 CDs per year to my collection. This happens to be one of my favorite seasonal collections. It has a great range of songs and artists, from Bing Crosby to the Beach Boys to the Chipmunks. Although this is a two CD version of a larger compilation from Time-Life that was advertised for years on TV it still provides plenty of seasonal music to enjoy. Some of my favorites included here is Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby" (a much better version that Madonna's more recent attempt), Burl Ives "A Holly Jolly Christmas", The Drifters version of "White Christmas", and one of my all time favorites, Bing Crosby & David Bowie's "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy" which was recorded for Crosby's final Christmas special just a few weeks before his death. This is a outstanding collection, one I would recommend highly to anyone looking for a variety of Christmas music all in one set of CDs. Happy listening and Merry Christmas!
Solid Tradition September 4, 2008 Robert E. Morgan Jr. (Atlanta, GA) This CD is a "must-have" in anyone's Holiday music collection because it contains practically every "classic" version of your Holiday favorites. There is even the almost impossible to find " Little Drummer Boy" duet by Bing Crosby and David Bowie for that all important "where did you find that?" cachet at your Holiday Party. Heck, it will make you feel cool on a 95 degree day! The sound quality is amazingly good considering that some of the songs were recorded decades before the digital age.
Good Memories January 18, 2008 Eric W. Hunt (Houston, TX USA) This CD has a good selection of traditional Christmas songs from the original artists that I remember from my childhood. You know, when it was still OK to say "Merry Christmas" to someone on the street. I played this CD and the other Time-Life Christmas CD all December long. I want my kids to have these songs as their Christmas memories as I do.
Not what I wanted December 13, 2007 Mary A. Costello 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The CD - Treasury, from Time-Life was not the one I wanted. I wanted the first Time Life Christmas collection.
