Beautiful! March 1, 2008 Stephen D. Schaper (Rochester, MN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love old Christmas music, and have a lot of CDs. I let myself get a new one each year. This one is OUTSTANDING. Beautful, genuine Christmas carols, no 'grandma got run over' schtick. Just beautiful.
An Addition to Your Christmas Music December 21, 2007 C. WONG (Hawaii) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Overall, I am please with this purchase. Most of the songs are worthy of consideration for your Christmas collection, but there are a few that seem to be too low in pitch and with little musical theme that I found boring and dull. C. Wong of Hawaii
If you buy only one Christmas Selection of music, consider strongly this one! December 4, 2007 Justin M. West 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A Feast of Songs is a gorgeous journey through a millennia of different cultural takes on the Christmas theme. The first and last tracks are oddly strong and powerful - though they did take a few listenings to appreciate. But the renditions of Patapan and others are stunning, and flow beautifully from one into the next. Gorgeous music. Buy it. Listen to it every day from the first of Advent (which does not de facto start the day after Thanksgiving Day) to the end of the octave of Epiphany (January 14th, well after most secularists stop celebrating Christmas). Live the season and do so boldly!
loveliest christmas music ever July 18, 2007 city7 (mountain view, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is on my playlist all year. I've never heard anything else that so beautifully captures the flavor of Christmas, in a way that brings to mind all of the richness, warmth, simplicity and sanctity of the medieval celebration. The flavor is not secular. This is just like drinking a steaming hot spiced wine in a cabin with a fireplace and a stone church visible from the window, full of meaning and warmth. The singing and instrumentation are really something else.
Great Medieval Music January 9, 2007 Catherine L. Glueck (Devils Elbow MO) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was looking for something in the way of holiday music that was also medieval and this fits the bill! Most of the tunes are ones I recognized and some I didn't but they were all well done and fun to listen to. A great addition to my holiday music collection!
