A FINE POP TREAT December 3, 2008 Petty Fan (U.S,) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
From beginning to end this album sparkles with fine ballads and funky country pop.Sweet girl who has shown her writing skills pretty well here.Pretty mature, musically for an eighteen year old girl. Her debut was fine, but to me,she shines more on this effort.Fearless,Love Story,White Horse,Breathe,You Tell Me Why,You're Not Sorry & Best Day are my faves. If you bought her self-titled release, there is no reason to stop there.Go out and get Fearless,now...You won't be disappointed.
This girl simply can't sing December 3, 2008 Kathryn S. Byer (Cullowhee, NC United States) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Taylor Swift may be a sweet girl. She looked sweet at the Country Music Awards a few days ago, but she can't sing. She needs a vocal coach in the worst way. I suffered through the program hoping to hear Sugarland before it was over. J. Nettles can sing. Pickler can't, nor Swift. Are big blonde hair and big white teeth and tight jeans and boots (oh please, some of the ugliest I've seen) all that matter anymore in Nashville. And the red carpet preening? How many layers of lipstick do you reckon Carrie wore throughout? And false eyelashes? And her last dress made her look like an over-stuffed crow, with all those black feathers blown by the fashion-fan. It was more Hollywood--no, Bollywood-- than Nashville. But I guess that's what so-called country music has become, or so it seemed, until Jennifer, who lets her hair do what it wants and wears practically no make-up. Face it, girls, a good voice and a good song---that's what it's all about.
Pure country-pop cotton candy sprinkled with hearts and rainbows December 1, 2008 Deanna G. Jernigan (California) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ironically, I thought the first Taylor Swift album was terrible [I got it for free, thankfully], but I heard her sing "Love Story" on the Country Music Awards, and although her vocals were weak, I found the song very catchy, so I picked up "Fearless" on sale. As cheesy and girly as it is, I LOVE this album, and have been listening to nothing else for the 2 weeks since I got it. The title track ("Fearless") is the first song on the album, and it's a strong opener. Though I must say, "Fairy Tale" would have been a much better title for this album since these lightweight tunes are about as 'fearless' as a puppy dog on a stormy night, and have tons of prince/princess/horses/hand-holding/standing outside of bedroom windows type references. "Fearless" is a collection of songs that any teeenaged girl can relate to. Are the lyrics profound? Nah. The music innovative and brilliant? Nope. But nor does it need to be. The beauty of this album is in it's simplicity, and the best way to enjoy this cd is to take it for exactly what it is: the romantic musings of a young girl in [and sometimes out] of love, set to catchy melodies with memorable hooks. For a little old lady like myself [I'm 29], this is a pleasant throwback to high school; a time when you want so badly to fit in, and whether or not your crush smiled at you could make or break your day. It's fun to revisist those days through the eyes of a young singer for whom this stuff is recent reality. I had every reason not to like this cd [not a *huge* country fan, not 18, never known "small town" life, etc.], but like a plain ol' peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, it just hits the spot. Favorite tracks: Fearless Breathe Fifteen Love Story
Please Remember Taylor is 18!!! December 1, 2008 Katy Bruce 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am 21 year old college student and I love Taylor. I fell in love with her debut CD and couldnt wait for Fearless to come out. And she did not disappoint me. Her song writing is incredible and although her vocals arent huge like some country artists, I think they compliment her lyrics perfectly. For all the critics that claim her songs are repetitive and young: SHE IS 18! There is no way she should be singing and writing songs that Martina or Carrie are singing because she hasnt experienced any of that. She has barely graduated high school! Let her be herself and sing about love and heartbreak because thats what she knows. On her THIRD album is where Im looking for some growth in lyrics, but not at 18. Put yourself in her position. Now for the songs I liked and didnt like: Love Story is amazing. No one can argue that. Fearless is simple but cute. Not sure it should be a single. Hey Stephen should def be a single. its so light and airy. Perfect for summer time! I love it White Horse is the second single and should do well. She sounds wonderful. You Belong with Me is an old topic but she executes it very well. The Way I loved you is one of my favs. Def should be a single. Fifteen and Best Days are wonderful stories, but not for radio. The rest are simple and not my favorites, but they are enjoyable. To have atleast 6 songs that could be radio hits is incredible. So give this girl some credit! I cant wait to see what she has in store for the 3rd album.
Great Follow up November 30, 2008 Amanda Norr (Deweyville, UT) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I loved her fist album, saw her in concert before it even came out. This is a great follow up, you can tell she is growing up, but staying true to herself.
