Album Description
The 2008 self-titled debut album of Jennifer Kate Hudson reflects her high-powered soulful style voice which is transcendent and timeless. Guests features on the album include Fantasia on "I'm His Only Woman", Ludacris on "Pocketbook", plus the highlights version of "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. Jennifer first gained notice as one of the finalists on the third season of the FOX television series American Idol. She went on to star as Effie White in the 2006 motion picture adaptation of the musical Dreamgirls for which she won numerous awards including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA and a SAG Award. 13 tracks.

This CD is wonderful from beginning to end. Track #3, with Ludacris is lots of fun. The ballad, Giving Myself, written by Robin Thicke is abosolutely gorgeous and sure to be a classic. Fantasia makes a guest appearance on one of the tracks and they sound great together. The gospel track at the end is a wonderful surprise. I can't think of a single track that seems out of place or weaker than the others. I'm glad I purchased this CD. You definitely have to be a person that likes traditional R & B, this album is not Pop music.

Although Jennifer didn't win American Idol, she has delivered the best debut album by far of any of the previous black idol contestants. Her range is great from R&B to gospel. The entire album is worth the money. I love the collaboration with Ludacris it was really hip and fun. I can't wait to hear her next album.

wide range & depth in roots renditions. Young sister is very naturally multi talent, Unfortunately, the lost of a family can be a devistaating experience hopefully it will refelect positive in her music. I give her 4 stars for her effort.
