Nice Addition to Big Band Christmas Library December 23, 2007 Dave P. Jones (Alexandria, VA, USA) Not a substitute for the original Glenn Miller recordings but nice combination well-known holiday tunes with the big band sound. Sound quality is well above average. If you enjoy 40's, 50's big band sound, you'll like this album. Good price and well worth the money.
Swingin' Christmas Baby, YEAH! November 6, 2004 moominmamma 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic cd that will surely have your toes tapping to the swinging beat. This is one of the classiest Christmas cds you could possibly own. The Glenn Miller Orchestra sounds absolutely fantastic, and the sound quality can't be beat. The Orchestra takes some traditionally slow songs like "Good King Wenceslas" and kicks them up a notch putting an upbeat drum beat and adding all kinds of horns so that surely even Wenceslas himself can't resist dancing. And then there are tracks like "White Christmas" which are still slow but are "jazzified". The selection of songs is wonderful with a good range of both traditional and modern carols. This is an excellent cd to have in your car or for playing at Christmas parties.
Lightning DOES strike twice! November 20, 2001 Bruce Aguilar (Hollywood, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't know exactly what it is about this cd, but I enjoy it more than the original "In The Christmas Mood". The big band/swing stylings and vocals (on the few tracks that feature them) sound just like they did on the original, the magic is still there. Perhaps it's the song selection itself which seems to weave more spiritual carols into the mix. Whatever it is, it works, as this cd always entertains me and my guests at holiday parties. Invariably, someone asks me where I got it and they wind up purchasing a copy themselves. Glenn Miller would be proud.
Glenn Miller died during World War II leaving us a legacy. July 31, 2001 Nancy Moran (Baltimore, Maryland USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
"In the Christmas Mood II" is disc 2 of a three-disc box set titled "In the Christmas Mood" that I recently got from Amazon.Glenn Miller always wanted to put out a Christmas album and more than twenty years later, his old band members and arrangers made that dream a reality. These discs were recorded in stereo so that didn't have to be remastered or digital or any of that stuff. They are the best an American orchestra can give to the yuletide repetoire. If you like the Big Band sound, you cannot miss out on them.
One of the best Christmas Albums for Jazz Lovers of Big Band December 5, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This CD will carry you away to the Christmas memories you have of the late 30's and early 40's. All of the Miller greats are featured in stirring solos, the arrangements are great; if you are in any way a fan of the big bands you should get this one. Five stars plus+Fred Yale
