Mantovani's Music Makes You Dance with the Stars November 18, 2007 Thomas E. DeJulio (Bronxville, NY USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
OK, so if soap opera star Cameron Mathison can bring a new elegance to waltz steps, the ethereal sounds of these original Mantovani recordings on this CD set will make you sway and swoon. Waltz Encores compiles the best of the original waltz recordings that made Mantovani a household name in the fifties. You will marvel at how the maestro scored his strings to soar and tumble on all of these phenomenal tracks. The second CD issued in 1962 focuses on famous American waltzes. Yale alums can appreciate their Whiffenpoof Song, and New Yorkers will tap their toes to their Sidewalks, but everyone will fall in love with Alice Blue Gown and Beautiful Ohio, uniquely adorned with the sounds of an Hawaiian guitar. You will not find a more astonishing collection of sounds Mantovani created for all of these dreamy waltz melodies. Ultimate retro-relaxation music by the original orchestra and its maestro of unparalleled musicianship.
