Amazon.com This Emmy Award-winning musical from 1978 explores an age-old Christmas conundrum: how does a big guy like Santa Claus squeeze down all those narrow chimneys? When Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends set out to find the answer one Christmas Eve, they explore a variety of amusing theories and learn a lot about the meaning of Christmas in the process. You won't want to miss seeing all your favorite Sesame Street characters as they take to the ice at a nearby skating rink. Perhaps the most enjoyable feature of all is the wealth of wonderful music--everything from traditional Christmas songs to the now famous "Keep Christmas with You" by Joe Raposo. Several numbers are signed in American Sign Language and there's even a brief mention of Hanukkah. This 60-minute, classic Sesame Street special, which teaches kids from 2 to 10 to value giving more than receiving and stresses the importance of love and togetherness, is also thoroughly entertaining. --Tami Horiuchi

Classic old-school Sesame Street February 9, 2008 Bobby Newman (Long Beach, NY USA) First off, viewers must be aware that this is Sesame Street from the 1970's. Many of your child's favorite characters weren't "born" yet. Also, remember that back then Sesame Street was a little edgier in that Oscar was seemingly being a little mean to Big Bird, teasing him about Santa Claus and how no one would get presents. He also didn't hesitate to talk about Santa's weight in a not very "PC" manner. Once those two facts are accepted, this is classic Sesame Street fun and sentiment. Bert and Ernie find themselves acting out The Gift of the Magi, with Mr. Hooper providing the most heartwarming moment of the film. I Hate Christmas, sung by Oscar, harkens back to what Sesame Street was back then in that it is just plain funny, but also shows what they (sadly) would never get away with in these ultra-sensitive days.
The best!!!! January 21, 2008 Evelyn A. Fritz (Arkansas) I have been watching this Christmas movie since the late 70' when my kids were born. We recorded it on a VCR and it became a Christmas Eve tradition even with nieces and nephews. After all these years it was beat so I looked for it in DVD. We are so delighted to have a new edition. Now I have a granddaughter and it will become a tradition for her also. Thanks so much!!!
Great Family Video January 14, 2008 C. R. Condie This video has meant a lot to my wife when she was a child and now it will become a great tradition in our family to watch this during the Christmas Holiday.
A family favorite. January 7, 2008 Ranae (AL, USA) This is an old Christmas favorite of my children's. They are in their 20's now. My son's fiance asked for some of our family traditions. This is one they always want to watch along with "A Muppet family Christmas". It has a lot of pretty songs in it and has wonderful Christmas messages.
Sesame Street Classic January 7, 2008 Brian O'Sullivan (Ireland) I bought this DVD a few years ago for my daughter who was 2 at the time. She is now 4 and it is stil her favourite. I would highly recommend this product rather than any of the other Christmas dvds from Seasame street.
