Sesame St Christmas August 2, 2008 Sassy Kat (Indiana, USA) Excellent Sesame Street DVD. Great sesame st. version of the classic Christmas Carol. Right up there w/ Mickey's Christmas Carol.
Boring January 12, 2007 Jeanmarie Engle 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This dvd was the most boring i have ever seen. I played it for three different kids ages 1,3 and 5. Not one of them liked it or watched it.
No Creativity!!! December 21, 2006 Jill E. Rankin (Columbiana, OH) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was so disappointed by this movie. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! As all the other reviews have noted, it is just old material recycled. But the transition into this old material was also horrible. My two year old daughter even recognized that these were just the old movies rolled into one.
Entertaining and diverse, yet not in the spirit of Christmas. December 19, 2006 Wolfe Moffat (Franklinville, NY) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
We got this for our daughter in hopes for some great entertainment, yet for an awesome lesson in the spirit of Christmas. The Muppets did it with "Muppet Christmas Carol", but this is WAY off base. I've always loved Oscar the Grouch, and I was really hoping for something great. The back of this says that it is in tradition with Charles Dickens' classic novel. Not at all. The ONLY thing that the 2 have in common is that there are 3 ghosts. Read on! The great things about this is that there is some Sesame Street past, such as well remembered Mr. Hooper. That was kind of a shock, and in the beginning (which is where Mr. Hooper makes his appearance) I thought this might be a real treat. Oscar is clearly seen as his usual grouchy self, and wants nothing but a night of Christmas sleep. So we see some great Christmas moments, like with Bert and Ernie. We also see some cool moments with Elmo and Santa Claus. That was an awesome lesson in giving. What was rather disappointing was that Christ was blatantly kept out of this Christmas "special", so there wasn't much special about it in the SPIRIT of Christmas. Jesus Christ was the perfect gift from our Lord. The problem with this is that Sesame Street producers decided that lessons on Hanukkah and Quanza should be included. The lessons are awesome, yet this turns this "CHRISTMAS SPECIAL" into merely a "holiday treat". They showed even how at Hanukkah and Quanza that candles are lit, in tradition of both holidays. What about Advent candles at Christmas time? We need to at least hear about the awesome virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I feel that the point of this is disappointing, and therefore missed. So in the end, Oscar is still a grouch, and there is probably peace on Earth in Sesame Street. I would suggest that when watching this with your children that you open your Bibles and read them the Christmas story. I believe that Sesame Street will remain educational, and that's awesome. Yet when educating MY daughter, or any kid for that matter with the word "Christmas" in the title, stick to the main idea. My America was founded on ideas such as "Merry Christmas", not some wimpy "happy holiday", which is the unfortunate idea of this presentation.
EXCELLENT CHRISTMAS MOVIE December 17, 2006 H. Mcinchakworley (michigan) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
My son is 2 years old and loves sesame street including ELMO - this is the only DVD we have of a holiday on Sesame Street and he loved it! He was so excited to see all of the characters on here and he absolutley LOVED seeing Elmo talking with Santa and sitting on Santa's lap. That's how I got him to sit on santa's lap this year. We watch it all the time and he seems to love it more and more each time.
