I saw this movie and loved the depth of every character and the diversity. Stephen Baldwin had me laughing till the end with his nons top antics. Stunning handling of straight and gay relationships. 5 stars in my book

Apparently I'm the only one who found this movie funny and romantic! I laughed quite a bit, and yes it was campy and the acting probably wasn't the greatest, but I don't think the writer was expecting an Oscar nomination here. Above everything else, us ladies are finally getting pay back for having to sit through female nudity in just about every R rated movie. Friends & Lovers finally showed up some full frontal male nudity, and for that alone I gave it 5 stars! People- don't be so rigid when reviewing a movie! Enjoy the ridiculous too!!!

This is a serious contenders for The Worst Movies Ever Hall of Fame.
Nothing to challenging but cute and warm July 30, 2002 Dave Jordan (Boringville, Michigan) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
All of the reviews you have read to this point have been pretty accurate, for the most part. And, yes, I can easily see how this movie would receive anywhere from 1 to 4 stars--it just depends on what mood you're in and what you're looking for. The acting in this film, while not necessarily Oscar material, is cute and suitably campy. The one-liners are very well-timed. The cast is fairly balanced, ranging from a weak performance by Claudia Schiffer all the way to the very creative and noteworthy antics of Stephen Baldwin and Robert Downey Jr. Yes, it's predictable and none too challenging to follow, but if you need cute laughs for the above 18 crowd, you may want to check it out.
SKIP IT --This Movie is Boring and predictable December 29, 2001 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
This romantic comedy has a few funny moments, particluarly the scenes with Robert Downey, Jr. Unfortunately, he is not the only one starring in this movie. Claudia Schiffer offers a weak perfomance, and the story-line is just not that interesting. It is a typical romantic comedy produced by Hollywood filmmakers --guy meets girl, guy competing with another guy for girls' attention, etc. (you get the idea.) If you really enjoy romantic comedies, and can't get enough, then you will probably like this light-hearted movie. For those of you who want more depth to the story-line, and quality in acting then you should pass on "Friends & Lovers."
