Amazon.com Inspired by O. Henry's short story about a young bride and groom, each of whom foolishly--but quite lovingly--sacrifices a treasured possession to buy the perfect Christmas gift for their mate. Amid a flurry of bustling New Yorkers clad in early-20th-century garb, O. Henry himself (David Wayne) sets the scene: Beth, a teenage orphan (Marie Osmond), comes to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle (the latter played by Donald Moffat). Her friendship with a cheerful kitchen maid soon leads to a stormy encounter with a handsome Swiss immigrant, Rudy (Timothy Bottoms). Despite Beth and Rudy's conflicting social statuses, and Beth's arranged engagement to a sickly bird watcher (a young James Woods, who truly fits the bill), the two fall in love and miraculously overcome these obstacles--all in about 95 minutes. Old-fashioned romance, elegant costumes, and a happy ending make this predictable story completely irresistible to those who love a good fairy tale--or to Osmond fans who fondly remember watching the movie on TV in 1978. Produced by the Osmond Brothers for PBS's American Short Story series. --Liane Thomas

The Gift of Love April 6, 2008 Virginia Rubino The title says it all, because I really love this movie. Marie Osmond and Tomothy Bottoms give a really great and believable, yet entertaining performance in this warm hearted, charming and romantic story. I really loved some of the dresses that Marie wore in the film. They were beautiful and elegant. I loved this movie when it first was shown on tv, and still love it today. This movie continues to be charming and entertaining. I especially loved the ending. The Gift of Love
gift of love March 7, 2008 Kelly L. Grove (Polo, Il) The Gift of Love I really enjoyed this DVD. I remember seeing it as a Teenager. Mom would make us popcorn as we sat and watched this christmas story. Marie did very well acting in this one. The costumes of that Era were absolutely beautiful and Marie looked stunning wearing them. Although Marie could make a potato sack look good. All that beauty and talent given to just one person seems totally unfair lol. I would recommend this DVD to all Marie fans
Gift of Love DVD February 5, 2008 Judith Sopher (WI - USA) Excellent family film - if you love Marie Osmond you will love this movie. She is perfect. I had seen this movie years ago and never forgot it, so when I had the chance to purchase it and watch again, I jumped at the chance. Love it!!
Feel good movie January 19, 2008 M. Hesselgrave (Pinckney, MI USA) This was a made for tv movie that's a little sappy, but is so sweet. I feel that it's a great feel good movie and fits right in with the spirit of the holidays.
Wonderful Christmas movie January 13, 2008 dasha1 (Georgia) I had seen this movie many years ago on TV. I loved it then and always remembered it. Suddenly one day I decided to see if Amazon had it and you did. I love it as much now as I did the first time I saw it. Marie Osmond is wonderful in it.
