Not really good November 16, 2008 Lovblad (Geneva, Switzerland) While the first two seasons were very successful, the third season is awful. THe idea of changing the format slightly is understandable and the creators were probably aftaid of getting in a rut. The problem is that the show was really very good. Until, at first Earls goes to prison, during which time he stops crossing things off his list and then he goes into a coma and it gets worse, a lot worse. Also, while previously the storylines were funny now the want to shock also slightly and the whole concept does not work anymore really.
as good as ever..... November 4, 2008 Efa B (Ireland) Is it possible that "my name is earl" gets better & better...yes it is...the characters are hillarious & the script & storylines very entertaining...if you like "it's always sunny in philidelphia" you will like this...it is tamer though!
In perfect Jason Lee fashion!! October 31, 2008 P. Walllace (Ardmore, OK) The third series is great. It ventures deeper in to the lives of the cast and gives some rousing humor. Great gift for Earl lovers everywhere.
Who knew prison is scary AND funny October 27, 2008 Louis J. Calabraro (Gorham, ME United States) While this season three labored a little bit, it's still Earl. The laughs kept a coming and the overall joke is still fresh. The shark will be jumped when it becomes more preachy with the karma stuff than funny. It isn't there yet and I hope if and when they are getting close they will close up shop. Until then keep the yucks coming.
Stereotype spectacular October 23, 2008 Brian Jackson (Rochester, NY USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have only watched the first disc of this season, and enjoyed it. I have the previous two seasons, and really enjoyed them as well. What I love about the show, is the way they flirt with so many stereotypes and then just sail right past them without judgment. I would love to see the casting call for the show. It must look like and X-Files one without the twist toward supernatural. What other show has amputees, deaf actors, one with a mechanical larynx, circus freaks, gays, and a day time hooker, all for the sake of comedy, without making any of them the butt of the joke? I think it is incredibly intelligent writing, with the plot and sub-plot continuity that has lasted through the series quite well. I am a fan.
