5 out of 5 stars Perfect - Highly Recommended - I Love Them!   December 25, 2008
Lisa Shea
I love having very simple holiday decorations that are also very meaningful. One of the most powerful images to me is of a home nestled in the thick snows of winter, with candles in each window to help guide a lonely traveler in to his place of rest. This is a tradition that dates back thousands of years and is just as touching in modern times.

The Good Tidings LED candles with sensors are brilliant for many reasons. First, they use LED lights which means they are NOT hot to the touch, they are safely cool. They also burn for weeks and weeks without burning out. I love LED lights as being amazingly energy efficient.

They run on batteries meaning there are no dangerous cables to trip on or to catch fire. They safely sit on your windowsill, providing that soft candle-like glow, doing their job for travelers and people who drive by the house, all in perfect safety.

I love the color of the flame. It is a natural golden orange color. A few people have said they would prefer a pure-white flame. I'm not sure what types of candles people are burning in their homes to get white flames - that would scare me! We have a fireplace here and the fireplace's fire is orange. That is the color of fire :) I find that orange golden glow to be exactly natural looking and again it connects me with the thousands of years where people did have wax candles in their windows to help their loved ones return home safely.

Finally, the sensor aspect of these candles is simply brilliant. I put them into my windows and that's it. They turn on at dusk, they turn off at dawn. I leave the house in the daytime, and when I come home at night those candles are all lit, guiding me home, welcoming me. It is a wonderful feeling.

Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful candles...   December 22, 2008

I recently purchased these candles after looking around and comparing for awhile. I have a dozen of them in the windows throughout my home. I love them. Mine have 3 settings, off, flickering and steady on. I use the flicker and they look great from inside the house and outside. The sensors seem to work well. I happen to like the orangish glow that they give as opposed to the white you see in other candles. They also make a great nightlight, as I have them in the windows of all our bedrooms. I wasn't sure how I was going to like the non-replaceable lightbulb, but the LED is nice. I am especially liking the battery power instead of the electric cord. The other candles I had were from Bethlehem lights and they didn't work from the day I got them. These were a much better investment. I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone looking for low maintenance candles for you homes windows!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome window candlelight   December 16, 2008

On the packaging, it says:

"No need to turn candle on and off daily. The candle's photo control turns it on at dusk and off at dawn. 2 'C' alkaline batteries will last the entire holiday season"

I, also, bought some little flickering tea lights(LED) and the batteries died after the 3rd night. I thought it would save me money to buy the other stuff--being it was a 12 pack price, but the batteries cost too much.

When I got these I was thrilled. They are orange just like how a flame SHOULD be orange. I'll get more next season.

5 out of 5 stars Not Orange - Realistic   November 29, 2008

We ordered 20 of these and every one works perfectly. My husband used to "extention cord the place" and I hated that. The flicker is realistic and the light is not bright white as expected (and respected) by others. They don't get hot and can be left on for as long as the batteries last. I suspect that will be for a long time. The fire departmenat might want to check on them if you use many of them, but isn't that the way they should look? Only thing I would like is if the "candle stick" would light up a little more. As effortless as they are though, I think they're a great buy. I'm going to order a couple more, not because I don't trust them, but because I don't trust little hands and pets not to knock them off. They easily fit on a 2" sill and the C batteries provide weight stability. I'm sure we'll be using them for many years to come.

4 out of 5 stars Met expectations, surpassed reservations   November 27, 2008

I purchased 4 and all work perfectly. In my opinion the color is golden, not orange, and satisfactorily replicates natural warm candle light as well as one can expect, I think.

My candles are placed in windows with significant shade (two are in a window inset deep in a 8 ft. covered porch), and yet all faithfully turn on and off as the light outdoors darkens/lightens in their respective locations. The candles even continue to work when the exterior porch lights are on, seemingly able to distinguish between natural and artificial light.

They are slim enough to fit on my window sills with ample room left over, yet weighted enough to avoid tipping over by my dog. I was a little apprehensive about whether the antique color would look cheap, but actually I am pleased with the appearance; yes, they do look like plastic even from several feet away, but due to the detail and color tone, I think they are still attractive. I was also concerned the flickering would be too weak or look artificial, but it is actually just right, quite nice.

My only complaint, and the reason I left off one star, is that they are packaged in blister packaging which I am becoming increasingly less tolerant of, and which leaves me with nothing usable (recyclable) to repackage the candles for storage when the holidays are over.
