When is a clock not just a clock? When it provides so much more than just the time: temperature, phase of the moon, and accuracy within one second per year, for example. This handsome wall clock, with its dual LCD screens and black-accented oak finish, is an example of household life being enhanced by science. The WS-8117U can hang on the wall or stand freely, with a built-in, fold-out stand. Radio-controlled time (to the hour, minute, and second) and date are prominently displayed, along with indoor and outdoor temperatures measured in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The day of the week can be displayed in English, French, Spanish or German. Time can be displayed in 12- or 24-hour modes, and time zones from Greenwich Mean Time to -12 GMT can be selected, with three-letter identifications for US time zones. An alarm feature is useful as a timer, and, if the clock happens to hang or stand near a bed (or a couch that's used for napping), a snooze feature allows for gradual wake-up. Moon phase shows in twelve increments, from new moon, through gibbous and crescent phases (waxing and waning), to quarter and finally full moon. The clock comes with La Crosse transmitter TX37U-IT. Clock and transmitter each operate on two AA batteries. For options in wall mounting, three screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. Bought four four for Christmas gifts January 7, 2009

Bought two for my own use. One in the family room and one in my office. Love the fact that they both get outside temperature using the same outdoor monitor. I wrapped the monitor in a baggie so it would stay dry. It has a great range and keeps very accurate temperature and time. I loved it so much I gave it as gifts to fellow employees. It's the perfect gift, not too expensive and very unexpected.

I've had the Clock/Thermometer for over 4 years and the only problem i've had is the back disappeared off the transmitter (I blame the squirrels)--still works, just put the transmitter in a ziplock bag. Love having the outdoor temperature and moon cycles. my only complaint is that without any back lighting it can only be seen when room is well lit.

Outdoor temp does not stay displayed for more than 30 minutes. Remote only 20 feet from clock. Tried resetting many times moving remote to different locations with no results to problem. Not reccommended.

We bought a La Crosse Technology WS-8117U-IT-OAK Atomic Wall Clock w/outdoor temp for ourselves about 2 years ago! It's FANTASTIC!!! We just love the clock so we bought another one for the bedroom and this year we bought one for our cousin for Christmas. They come over and admire it so now they will have one. It works great, the temp is always right on and you get to see when the moon is full. Plus this clock has an alarm in case you have bad weather and need to have a backup. I would recommend this clock to everyone I know or not know. Definitely worth the money and they have several colors/styles, we prefer Oak. :-)
