Amazon.com essential video Children who love Robin Williams as the voice of Aladdin or as Mrs. Doubtfire will get a blast out of the show that blasted him into the stratosphere, and made "Nanoo, Nanoo" a national catch-phrase. Mork & Mindy, a spin-off of a season 5 Happy Days episode, was a tailor-made star vehicle for Williams, who won a Golden Globe for this inaugural 1978 season. The role of extraterrestrial Mork from Ork gave free reign to Williams's stream-of-consciousness riffing as Mork observed life on Earth and reported back to his leader, Orson, on all that he learned about friendship, love, family, and emotions. As Mindy, the down-to-Earth Boulder, Colorado, girl who takes the stranded alien under her roof, fresh-faced Pam Dawber does her best to keep up. When Williams is really in the (Twilight?) zone, it's not acting: she does seem like she's dealing with someone from another planet. The highlight of this first season is "Mork's Mixed Emotions," a tour-de-force that TV Guide ranked among the top 100 TV episodes of all time (#94, to be exact). Mork believes that emotions are bad, and tries to lock them inside himself, but they are unleashed in a lusty, happy, weepy, angry, envious torrent. Helping to launch Williams as a primetime player in the series pilot are Henry Winkler and Penny Marshall in their iconic roles as the Fonz and Laverne. Another notable guest star in season 1 is David Letterman as an abusive EST-like guru in "Mork Goes Erk." Mork & Mindy rapidly jumped the shark, and much of the '70s sitcom trappings have not aged well, but this first season is a giddy time capsule record of Williams at his most spontaneous and out of this world. Shazbot--the set contains no extras. --Donald Liebenson.

Mork and Mindy is now available on DVD,this great set includes the 1st season's 24 classic episodes!!! And they look and sound graet on DVD!!! No extas though,Shazbut!!! But still,it's a five star DVD set!!! A must for fans of the show or Robin Williams,Pam Dawber,Conrad Janis,Elizabeth Kerr,Robert Donner, and the like!!! Recommended!!! Na Nu Na Nu!!!
Great show for all times! October 30, 2008 J. L. B. Schulze (Levittown, PR) I really enjoyed watching this now as an adult, more so than when I was a teenager. I was able to catch a lot of things I didn't get back then, and needless to say that this is one zany show. Robin Williams was brilliant and there couldn't be a better counterpart than Pam Dawber to handle the crazyness in her own sweetness. I particularly enjoyed the episodes featuring Exodur (did I spell that right?). Only Mork would understand Exodur's mission so well! The sound and overall quality of the DVD is excellent and my recomendation goes to both the old Mork & Mindy's fans as well as the upcoming generation. This is truly good entertainment.
Robin Williams as Mork - funny even then.. September 30, 2008 Pj Lynn (Auckland, NZ) We have all of the DVDs - our only regret is that the Mork show was only on tv for a few seasons. Robin William in his early days - extremely funny from the beginning and Pam Dauber is wonderful as Mindy too!
what a classic August 27, 2008 GennyR (USA) This show is it for classic comedy who doesnt like Robin Williams, got this free with my pepsi points, would love it if the other seasons were available too.

I had never seen Mork and Mindy before receiving this DVD set. We invited a few members of the family over and watched the complete season. I'd never heard so much laughter from them. I was nicely impressed by Robin Williams's earlier work.
