5 out of 5 stars A Christmas Book for Kids Who Aren't Sure if Santa is Real   March 29, 2008
Sherry Ellis
The Magic of Christmas is a delightful flat-spine picture book that is perfect for kids who find themselves doubting the existence of Santa. The main character of the story is an eight-year-old boy who isn't sure if Santa is real. After a couple of encounters with Santa at the mall and a very special surprise, the young boy discovers that he still believes in the magic of Christmas.

The illustrations, surprisingly, are not what you would expect after looking at the cover. While the cover is crisp and computer-generated, the inside illustrations are sketched with muted grey, brown, and green undertones. The illustrations do compliment the story nicely.

I read the book to my six-year-old daughter who still believes in Santa. She thought that the cover was a bit unusual, but she thoroughly enjoyed the story - especially the special surprise. I think that other kids, ages 5-8 would also enjoy The Magic of Christmas.
