Contemporary Christmas romance October 28, 2005 Gemma (Alberta, Canada) From the back cover: What dreams are made of... In London, a hospital clerk finds herself attracting the attention of an older physician who's definitely out of her league. She never imagined she'd be the target of "A Christmas Romance" - by Betty Neels In Australia, a news reporter meets up with her estranged husband, and discovers that she'd been tricked into leaving him for all the wrong reasons. So, for the sake of their daughter, they agree to spend some time together during "Outback Christmas" - by Margaret Way In Montanata, Brooke has sworn off love. And so has the sheriff she's forced to call in after she rescues an abandoned child, who has never even heard of Christmas. Instant mom, instant dad, and instant romance for "Sarah's First Christmas" - by Rebecca Winters And my review: I found the first story boring. I'm afraid that Betty Neel's writing style just doesn't engage me. I never finished this story. One star. I never finished the second story, either. The author throws way to many details and character at you in the first pages, until you're so confused that you have to keep flipping back and forth to try and keep anything straight. If I need a cheat sheet to read a book, it isn't worth the work. Reading romance should be entertaining, not feel like homework. One star. The last story was the winner of the book. I've yet to read anything by Rebecca Winters that I didn't like. She writes touching, clean romances (no sex in them) that stay with you long after the book is over. Her characters are always well-drawn and jump directly into your heart. This story was no exception. And Sarah, the little girl, was just wonderful. She made me smile so many times while I was reading this story. I just couldn't help but love her. This novella was worth the re-read, and was the reason I kept the book. Five stars. As usual, a mixed bag, but one story makes it worth owning.
A twist to old characters December 5, 2000 Retriever of information (Missouri) 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
I loved all three stories, but I especially loved Betty Neels. She added a twist to her usual characters. It was wonderfully refreshing to see more of the doctors thoughts and feelings. The heroine was definitely a twist of character. Her personality was more outgoing than many of the others. Highly recommend for a good read and start the holidays out right.
