Product Description A magical train ride on Christmas Eve takes a boy to the North Pole to receive a special gift from
Amazon.com Review One couldn't select a more delightful and exciting premise for a children's book than the tale of a young boy lying awake on Christmas Eve only to have Santa Claus sweep by and take him on a trip with other children to the North Pole. And one couldn't ask for a more talented artist and writer to tell the story than Chris Van Allsburg. Allsburg, a sculptor who entered the genre nonchalantly when he created a children's book as a diversion from his sculpting, won the 1986 Caldecott Medal for this book, one of several award winners he's produced. The Polar Express rings with vitality and wonder.

Essential for Children November 26, 2008 Amanda M. Johnson (Pensacola, FL) This the best book ever! I have very fond memories of it myself, growing up. I had the gift set too! I loved holding the bell! I am now a teacher, one day hope to be a mother and it is a must have for anyone with children!!! Amazon has the best price around! Highly recommended! Great gift item too! I bought two: one for me and one for my nephew!
The Polar Express October 23, 2008 Holley Lewis (Texas, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book's quality is made well. The art work most colorful and fits well with the movie and gives a great visual adventure for parent and child to share a holiday favorite in the cold winter season of Christmas. A book to indeed have each year to make a tradition.
A Family Tradition October 13, 2008 Diana Rager (Willow Grove, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My uncle gave me this book as a gift many years ago. I loved the fact that it came with a cassette (read by William Hurt) and it even has a little bell just like the boy in the story. This story is probably my absolute favorite Christmas book. I am buying it for my Nephew to pass on the tradition.
Another outstanding Van Allsburg treat! September 30, 2008 Mrs. Esther J. Smith (Queensland, Australia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What can one say about an illustrator like Van Allsburg? The Polar Express is almost not a children's story but for the child with a vivid imagination (and may there still be a few in existence!!) they will identify with the little boy who travels in his dreams by the Polar Express. I know they have mad an animated film of this book and done it well but it really is more a nostalgia trip for adults. I have never seen a Van Allsburg done badly they are always incredible books and I would love to own the lot. Highly recommended!
Excellent September 10, 2008 Anna del C. Dye (Utah, USA) We read this book as a family on Christmas Eve two years ago for the first time. I love the pictures and the story. A firm believer of Santa, I had encouraged my kids to believe in him. In a world so hard and sometime cold, a book like this one is needed to remind us that there is good in this world and it usually come out stronger in the holiday season. Anna del C. Author of "The Elf and the Princess" and "Trouble in the Elf City" The Elf and The Princess: The Silent Warrior Trilogy - Book One (The Silent Warrior Trilogy)
