Product Description Favorite veterinarian storyteller Dr. John McCormack breaks new ground in this family friendly, all ages, heartwarming and humorous Christmas memoir. From his memories of getting his first pocket knife--a big deal for a country family of limited means in 1943--through his years of vet school and then practicing in rural Alabama, Dr. McCormack captures the closeness of family and friends (including plenty of furry friends) that are emblematic of holiday traditions. Long compared to James Herriot, McCormack shares the enjoyable hazards if being a country vet, especially during the holidays. He understands the human and animal heart alike and shares hard learned lessons, including how his humble work taught him about the promise and the miracle of Christmas. Dr. John McCormack is a retired professor of veterinary medicine at the University of Georgia. His books include The Hero of the Herd, Fields and Pastures New, and A Friend of the Flock. He lives in Greensboro, Georgia.

Another great book by Dr. McCormack! This time, the stories are centered around Christmas. Dr. McCormack's tales of his life as a country veterinarian in the rural south evoke nostalgia for life in the rural South. This is a great bedside book or gift book!
